Discovering: Thievery Corporation - 'Liberation Front'

I've been making conversations with either people I don't know, or people I knew casually from way back when. And I realized I can do it - make small talk; I just need to have one thing in common with the other party.

But today's meeting with Mr. P., it was pretty unsubtle how I kept steering the conversation back to work.

I'm not gonna pretend: I watch everything I say and don't say around him.

Discovering: Sora - [untitled]

I'm so tired I can't think straight.

Actually, there are so many things on spin-dry in my mind, but only one is salient: it's my off day tomorrow! Whee!

All I'm gonna do is: one, watch Mr. P.'s copy of Black; two, meet him to get some articles; and, three, bring Doggie for her grooming session.

Whee!

Chilling To: Hajime Chitose - 'Rin To Suru (Strings Version)'

I totally tanked at the classes. Today, I teared (but didn't cry) - because the girls were all being so supportive and encouraging and all - after I sucked the mother of duck eggs in a Level Five class.

Really. Children and I - like a dry white and bolognaise sauce.

But then I had a nice lunch with Mr. P. and the team - food notwithstanding (besides, it was Mr. P.'s treat) - and my day just turned itself around.

I should quit the play center.

Chilling To: Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan - 'Bari Bari Iman'

Receiving a tiny chocolate-and-teddy-bear bouquet from Sandra this morning didn't lift my mood.

But I felt much better after a regular latte and some chill out time at a café ... even if it was only Coffee Bean.

I wish there were a Fidel's within walking distance of my residence. I have taken Welly's café culture for granted ... and I'd missed it so very badly today.

Looping: Rebekah Del Rio - 'Llorando'

I remember I love waking up to the gray skies and the pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof and pavement.

Even at 06:20.

Enjoying: Four Seasons - 'Big Girls Don't Cry'

All of a sudden, I don't quite like the way I'm living my life - I don't like my life.

I'm perpetually tired, I have the annoying ditties from my workplace invading my head, and I can't write up any of the articles Mr. P. forwarded me (and I owe him three).

I want to throw a tantrum, shriek my lungs out and cry my eyes out.

But I'm too tired to - and too old for it.

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Looping: Blossom Dearie - 'Put On A Happy Face'

Mommy, I don't wanna go to school work.

Please, Mommy, please.

Friday, March 24, 2006

Discovering: La Casa Azul - 'Tantas Cosas Que Arreglar'

Sara remarked that I dress like a tai-tai.

Does that mean I look, like, fucking old?

Excuse me while I cry my panda eyes out.

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Enjoying: Acid House Kings - 'Tonight Is Forever'

Two pretty girls, Sajitha and Mira. Sajitha has the fine facial structure of Malaika Arora, while Mira's one nicely made-up and put together Indian-Muslim-mix-Malay-Peranakan girl.

The new faces that I've recently been acquainted with, what a coincidence all of them are attractive Asian females.

Lucky me.

Enjoying: Sketch Show - 'Attention Tokyo'

It occurred to me recently that one reason I'm sticking to my job at that play center is that I get to either blow bubbles or play with stamps every day that I go to work.

Goddess knows, I love bubbles.

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Looping: Chad VanGaalen - 'Clinically Dead'

The sky was dark, overcast, in Orchard Road this afternoon.

In the backseat of number 174, it was dark, and the windows were rain-streaked.

I gazed out the windows and wished I were alone, because I selfishly didn't want to share that beautiful, lonely moment with anybody.

Enjoying: the dawn's s i l e n c e

Strangely enough, there is a day for amphibians - frogs, namely, but I suppose we could squeeze the toads in - a World Frog Day ...

And it's today.

(Guess frogs' legs won't be on today's menu.)

Maybe I should go kiss a frog today ...

I ♥ You, Kermit!

Discovering: Grandaddy - 'Shangri-la'

Per my text to Germ, I've discovered that while a marriage may be a union of two souls, a wedding is a chaotic merger of four (extended) families.

Swear to Goddess, attending a wedding is the strongest deterrent I've found to public unions of any kind.

Single For Life!

Discovering: Snailhouse - 'The Silence Show'

I reckon I'm due - the last time I had a viral attack was sometime in February last year, after the ten-hour flight to Auckland.

This time round, being sick is not so much a burden as it is a relief.

Thank Goddess for this excuse for a time-out - I very much needed (and wanted) this break.

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Enjoying: Shivaree - 'I Will Go Quietly'

I've been rendered mute by a bad sore throat, but inside, in my mind, I'm still chatting and singing - loudly, incessantly.

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

Discovering: Michael Nau - 'Heart and Brain'

I've begun dreaming of young children - adorable little muchkins with pinch-me cheeks and rosebud pouts.

It could've been worse, I suppose ...

Monday, March 13, 2006

Looping: The Little Mermaid OST - 'Kiss The Girl'

Our plans to meet for lunch have never once came to fruit. Once again, we will not be meeting for lunch tomorrow because Mr. P. wants to see her at 12:00, and me at 15:00.

I think Mr. P. is going to fire me tomorrow - call it a hunch.

Sunday, March 12, 2006

Enjoying: Kal Ho Naa Ho OST - Title Track

The only thing I did today that's worth any mention at all is: I chewed three pieces to Dubble Bubble all at once, in a motherload wad - would've added more pieces, but I was too lazy to go downstairs to get them.

My life story.

I must've looked like a freaking cow.

Saturday, March 11, 2006

Discovering: Art Ensemble of Chicago - 'Theme de Yoyo'

Oh no! I'm gonna miss my deadline!

But I'm So. Tired.

Friday, March 10, 2006

Blasting: Yuva OST - 'Fanaa'

So. Loud.

I have to make sure there's always something on high volume when I'm not at my workplace now; otherwise, the little ditties I hear and sing daily would drive me completely nutso.

Welcome, welcome, everyone / Now we're here let's have some fun ... Oh, gawd.

Thursday, March 09, 2006

Chilling To: George Michael - 'Desafinado'

I stare up at the poster of Sappho by Charles-August Mengin and into a book of what remains of Sappho's works: I wish I knew her.

I wish she were my muse.

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

Chilling To: Françoise Hardy - 'Star'

I am so tired.

Find me a spindle to prick my finger on.

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

Enjoying: Elf Power - 'Hot Love'

When I told Geeta I learn something new from her every day, I really meant it.

What I am constantly (re)learning is the innocence of youth.

Monday, March 06, 2006

Discovering: Casey Dienel - 'Tundra'

This is, like, how early my day starts.

A moment of peace before a long commute, coffee and breakfast at my desk, with my laptop for company.

Not even close to another day in paradise, but, hey, one can hope for and try, right?

Sunday, March 05, 2006

Enjoying: Smashing Pumpkins - 'Tonight Tonight'

I have to confess my curiosity - it's driving me nuts.

Thank goodness for my paranoia and cynicism: they keep me wary despite the compelling curiosity.

Saturday, March 04, 2006

Discovering: Bishop Allen - 'Vain'

Why is it always the guy who can't carry a tune to save his family jewels who hogs the mike when a karaoke machine is switched on?

For fuck's sake, man - I recommend a castration if you really like to sing that much.

And even then ...

Discovering: Apparat - 'Komponent'

A full day.

Worked with the cutest little boys (Ehaan, Daniel and Kieran) in the arts class, had my ears talked off by Mr. P during the meeting, dinner with the Trinity, and then some quality time with my luvvy.

Goddess, I can't possibly love Doggie any more, can I?

Thursday, March 02, 2006

Discovering: Bannister Boy - 'Dark Rooms...'

Actually, I think I do like meeting people - especially those from another culture.

Wednesday, March 01, 2006

Discovering: Mr Projectile & 1010 - 'Wild Orchids'

Jessica said I look younger than my quarter-century!

Woo hoo - I'm on a fucking roll!
